Tonight’s dinner was brought to you by Costco Tri-Tip. And by fresh brussels sprouts. Guest appearance of Louis M Martini 2010 Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. You may remember Martini as a great value producer from many years ago introducing wonderful varietal wines.
This wine was “inspired by Cabernet Sauvignon” but really wasn’t the original. Pleasant, well made, oh so nice blackberry and cherry on the nose and palate. And tannins that hid behind the curtain; acidity was there, wasn’t there, it’s ok. The wow factor must have gotten tied up in traffic since it was a no-show. There is nothing really wrong with it; it was quite pleasant to drink. And my left hand issued it a compliment.
All-in-all, highly rated on the meh scale. Would I drink it again? Yes, if you bought it for me. Actually, nah, don’t bother. Less than $20, but a few extra bucks for something better wouldn’t have hurt. The tri-tip was excellent. Bravo, Costco!
